24. The Monday Break(Through) 015 - Behind the Scenes of My Weekly Workflow

Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of the Monday Break(Through).

A couple of weeks ago, I talked about how I don’t really do New Year’s resolutions and how I plan my work around this method called The 12 Week Year. And since then, I’ve been getting a lot of questions like, “Okay, cool, but how do you actually plan your weeks?”

So today, I thought I’d give you a proper, detailed breakdown of how I organize my time. Nothing fancy, just the real behind-the-scenes of how I keep things moving, especially as someone running a digital product business. Hopefully, it gives you some ideas you can tweak for your own setup.

So first off, I’ve got a set of recurring tasks that show up every single week, no matter what. These are kind of like the backbone of my workflow. Things like:
– Preparing content for social media.
– Recording and publishing podcast episodes.
– And, of course, social media engagement, which, honestly, takes more time than you’d expect, but it’s part of the game.

Then, on top of that, I always have an ongoing goal of releasing one new typeface every week or every two weeks. That’s kind of the rhythm I’m aiming for. Sometimes the typefaces are simple; sometimes they’re a bit more complex and need extra love, so I adjust the timing as I go.

And then there’s the regular business maintenance stuff. The things that aren’t exactly exciting, but they keep the lights on. Emails, taxes, bits of marketing, and some side projects I’ve got running in the background. I block out time for those every week, too.

But here’s where the 12 Week Year really comes in. Outside of all that weekly stuff, I choose one big task that becomes my main focus for the entire 12-week cycle. Just one.

Right now, it’s finishing and launching my new website. And funny enough, today is actually the first day of a new 12-week sprint for me, so I’m just now mapping out all the small steps and time blocks that are going to build up to that bigger goal.

And that’s pretty much how I do it.

It’s a simple system. Recurring tasks, ongoing creative output, general business upkeep, and one big focus every 12 weeks. If you’re running your own design business—whether it’s fonts, branding, or anything else—this kind of structure is super easy to adapt. It keeps things clear. You always know what to work on, and it helps avoid that feeling of “I have 600 things to do and no idea where to start.”

So yeah. That’s my weekly plan in a nutshell.

Let me know if this helps or if you want me to share more on how I schedule things day to day or how I sort my tasks when things get messy. I’m always happy to share what works for me.

Alright, that’s it for this Monday. Have a good one, and keep pushing.
